The science centre will be open Tuesday 19th until Saturday 23rd February. (It’s always open 1st & 3rd Saturday’s of every month and the following Friday afternoon). To celebrate the newly upgraded toilet facilities (I’ve heard it all now!), the activities over the half term have a water theme including testing water quality (not of the toilets hopefully!), checking out a ‘river in a box’, programmable LEGO and building a raft. Free 0-4, £2 over 4 and £7.50 for a family of up to 5 people.
Court Farm Shop, Stoke Orchard

We watched an ewe giving birth when we visited last year (which resulted in so many questions by my eldest son! Very interesting though). Live lambing is taking place 18th – 21st Feb. Booking is essential. You need to call or visit the Court Farm shop to book and pick up tickets. The farm will be lambing 430 ewes in the next few weeks so it is a very exciting time to visit.
Standard on foot tour £5 per Adult / £3 per Child (2-16) / Under Two’s Free. (Edited – 11th Feb. All extended tours with a trailer ride, bottle feeding sessions now full).
Primrose Vale, Shurdington

Although there are no specific events planned for the half term holidays, Primrose Vale is always a great free place to spend an hour or two with kids to play in the sandpit, ride the vintage tractor, play on the swings and slides or visit the rabbits. My boys love it and I enjoy the coffee which is always available to purchase from the farm shop.
The Wilson, Cheltenham Art Gallery

A brand new gallery for young people and their fellow adventurers is now open called World of Wonders. We’ve not been yet but from the website it sounds like a great place to pass a couple of hours with kids – ‘This gallery encourages visitors to touch, play, sing and dance. Visitors will meet a penguin in a tunnel, find a bone-shaker in the sky, and watch rabbits jump mid-leap! Free entrance with donations encouraged.
Hidden Cheltenham Trail Map
I’ve only just found out about this free hidden Cheltenham trail pack. You can pick them up from the Wilson Art Gallery and the security office of the Brewery Quarter. ‘The Hidden Cheltenham trail brings attention to the stories of the people, places and communities of Cheltenham that have been overlooked, forgotten and sometimes even written out of history. Cheltenham is a town that is proud of its history, but there’s much more to our town than King George visiting in 1788 and its development as a Regency spa town’.
Theatre productions
Shelter from the rain inside your local theatre. Danceworks takes place Sunday 17th February at the Bacon Theatre in Cheltenham and from the 20th – 23rd February ‘The Tiger who came to Tea’ is performing at the Everyman Theatre.
Welly Walk, The Boathouse, Pittville Park
Put your wellies on for some muddy fun. Nature activity packs cost just £3 per child, with additional siblings costing £2. The walk will include a number of activities to encourage little ones to look closer at all things wild in the park (magnifying glasses included). Recommended for 8 year olds and under, all children must be accompanied by an adult throughout the walk. More info on the Facebook page.
Light Up, Cheltenham Town Centre

We popped along to the Light Up Cheltenham opening night on Saturday to watch the glow in the dark band, Spark (see video below). They were absolutely brilliant and the atmosphere was buzzing in town. Although Spark were just there to open the event 40 buildings will be lit up in the town centre every night from now until the 24th February. On Saturday 16th February the Photon Juggling LED Glow Show will also be performing. (This is a free event).
In Imperial Gardens there is a 35 metre observation wheel which is sure to give you great views over Cheltenham. (£5 for an adult, £4 for a child and a family ticket is £15).
