We are absolutely delighted that our blog, Travel Loving Family, has been nominated by the very talented Stephanie at Mum in the Cotswolds to receive a Liebster Award. As complete newbies to blogging we are very touched to be selected!
So what is a Liebster Award? A Liebster is an award created by bloggers for other fellow bloggers. It’s an award that’s passed on by nominations between bloggers as a way to welcome, celebrate and discover new blogs.
The Rules. Once you have been nominated you will need to write a blog post containing:
* A link back to the person who nominated you
* 11 interesting facts about yourself
* Answers to questions asked by the blogger who nominated you
* Links to your nominated blogs
* 11 questions for your nominations to answer
* Once your article is published remember to notify the blogs you have nominated!
1. I decided that Richard (my now husband) was my soul mate after we managed to live together on a 50 foot narrow boat for two years without killing each other!
2. I love to travel! I have travelled to over 80 countries, many of which whilst working onboard cruise ships.
3. My best travel experience to date was a 100 day world cruise when working for P&O Cruises. My favourite ports were Nha Trang in Vietnam and Sydney.
4. As a kid I worked for a summer season as Birthday Bear, one of the Care Bear’s!
5. I am a qualified scuba diver but I am not sure I will ever scuba dive again as since having children I seem to have turned into a big softy (and the last time I dived I came face to face with a shark!)
6. I have lived for over five years in the USA… I worked at a campsite for Camp America in San Francisco, studied in Missouri, worked at a timeshare property in Kissimmee, Florida and more recently lived for three years in Savannah, Georgia.
7. I am not very good at staying at home! Mainly because my boys can DESTROY our house in SECONDS and so I find it much easier to take them out and about!
8. I started this blog just as something to do to challenge myself.
9. I drive my husband insane because (in his opinion!) I have selective hearing.
10. I am happiest when with my family, preferably with a large glass of red wine and a box of chocolates.
11. I am a planner and love to have our family calendar full of events, holidays and road trips :-)
My answers to Mum in the Cotswolds questions
How long have you been blogging? Since end of June this year (four months). I am hoping to spend more time on my blog now that my eldest boy has started school (sob, sob!)
Do you have any hobbies? I love Zumba! I would also class travelling, visiting attractions and attending family friendly events as my main hobbies as this is what I spend all my free time doing.
Who’s your celebrity crush? Ashton Kutcher
What’s your favourite TV show? Without a doubt, Downton Abbey (do not call me on a Sunday night!)
When you where younger what did you want to be when you grew up? I wanted to be a dancer on the cruise ships! I never made it as a dancer, but I did work on cruise ships for a few years as a Shore Excursions Manager (way cooler than being a dancer, I was paid to scuba dive, trek and bike ride my way around the World!)
Where is your favourite place to eat out? Definitely Savannah in Georgia, USA. We lived there for three years. The city has some of the BEST restaurants to try southern cuisine.
Shoes or bags? Shoes (and a big nappy changing bag which I never sort out and which just gets heavier and heavier by the day!)
Who is a hero in your life? My hubby (sorry soppy I know!) He is the best Daddy my boys could wish for and an incredibly supportive husband.
What’s your favourite season? I have to say summer as there is so much to do when the weather is nice however, I do absolutely love Christmas.

Great to read your post!! I’m yet to try Zumba but would love to give it ago one day, however all the classes seem to be whilst I work. Working on the cruise ships sounds great and what a fab way to see some of the world too!! Cannot believe you came face to face with a shark whilst scuba diving though, I think that too would make me think twice about doing it again, scary!! Congrats on the Award, you really deserve it as I love reading your blog. x
