My first thought when asked to attend a party to celebrate the launch of the new Num Noms was what the heck are Num Noms! Fortunately Charlie, my five-year old, is more hip and with it! After giving me the ‘look’ (you know the one, the look that makes you question whether you have just grown another head!) he proceeded to patiently tell me that Num Noms are “little squishy creatures that smell nice and scoot about!”
Doing a little research online I found that his description was pretty much spot on. Num Noms are collectable toys which come in over 1000 customized scent fusions, such as Raspberry Cream-Banana Go-Go. For parents reading this who are clueless like I was – Nums are the outer, squishy, hollow characters that nest on top of Noms and noms are the inner, hard-shelled characters that have a variety of purposes including scooting around.
I took Charlies excitement as a sign that he would like to attend the pizza party and accepted our invitation.
The party started with all the children making their own pizza followed by choosing from a selection of delicious ice creams. The theme of the party was very much food combinations and scent, just like the theme of the Num Noms.
Of course a party wouldn’t be a party without games! My boys had a great time putting their noses to the test with the guess the flavour blindfold scent challenge, stacking up a tower of Num Noms and designing their very own Num Nom character.
Whilst the kids were stuffing their faces with pizza and being entertained all the adults present enjoyed chatting over an Italian feast laid on by Bella Italia.
Since attending the party on Tuesday my boys have nonstop played with the Num Nom characters that they received in their party bags. Charlie has been busy stamping everything in sight with his new stamper Nom and Harry has enjoyed applying his scented lip gloss (much to his Daddy’s despair!)
