Monday Escapes #80

Hello and welcome Monday Escapers.  I hope you’ve had a great fortnight.  Once again I find myself enjoying a Monday Escape with Claire from Tin Box Traveller.  This time not in Tuscany but onboard the Navigator of the Seas sailing towards Spain!  We’re onboard reviewing an 80’s themed cruise.  Not just any old 80’s themed cruise though, it’s the largest retro music cruise at sea!  Over the week we hope to watch many of the 100 hours of musical performances and of course check out the ports we are sailing into… Bilbao tomorrow, Vigo the day after and finally one of my favourite ports in Europe, Lisbon.

I need your help peeps! If you had the chance to interview Belinda Carlisle, Tony Hadley and Kim Wilde what would you ask them?! 🤷‍♀️ This time next week @tinboxtraveller and I will be sailing with our kids onboard @royalcaribbean Navigator of the Seas towards Spain and Portugal 🙌Onboard the ship will be many of our fave 80’s legends and we’ve been asked to interview them! 😬 Come on help us out, hit us with your most creative unique questions. The best ones will be featured in an article on @cruisingkidsuk 😘. #presstrip #80s #80sparty #80smusic #80stheme #cruiselife🚢 #cruiselife #belindacarlisle #tonyhadley #kimwilde #interview #cruisingwithkids #cruisetheworld #cruise #cruisemad #lovecruising #lifeatsea #snaphappybritmums #travelblog #travelblogger #ukparentbloggers #ukftb #lifeunplugged #lifecloseup #thehappynow #momentsofmine #forahappymoment

We are outnumbered 3:2 as Claire has her two girls with her and I’ve got my youngest son with me however we plan to pop them into kids clubs occasionally so that we can share daily diary posts  (whilst sipping a cocktail or two of course!)  If you want to follow along and check out our dodgy 80’s outfits or see how we get on when we interview some of the 80’s stars you can here on Cruising With Kids.  Whilst you are over there please check out Donna & Sarah’s fabulous guides to cruising with teens onboard the brand new  Norwegian Bliss and Symphony of the Seas.

Without further ado, Monday Escapes

Monday Escapes is a travel linky run by Karen from Mini Travellers, Claire from Tin Box Traveller, Sarah from Extraordinary Chaos and myself.

Monday Escapes is all about looking back at wonderful, happy travel memories and sharing them with others. It doesn’t have to be about a trip abroad or even be a written post. If you want to share your favourite snapshots – whether it’s a famous sight, scene, dramatic view or even a favourite family photo, then please feel free to link those up, too. Likewise, posts don’t have to be about holidays or weekends away, they can also include day trips, walks, attractions – any travel experience that you want to share.

This weeks Monday Escapes is being hosted by Sarah and Karen.  You’ll find the linky on Sarah’s website.

What’s in it for you?

The number one thing is you’ll be sharing your fantastic posts with a like-minded community and grabbing some travel inspiration for yourself. As a bonus you have a chance to have your blog post featured on all four of the hosts’ blogs each fortnight, introducing your blog to even more people.

We are also absolutely delighted to link up with Lonely Planet to offer our number one favourite blog post of the fortnight either a destination guide, or a title from the Lonely Planet Kids range. (See T&C’s below). Just another great reason to link up with Monday Escapes!

Our favourite posts from last time

Karen loved Your Dutch Guides post about LEEUWARDEN she said, “I’d never heard of this place at all but the combination of beer, cheese, seals and a prison you can eat in, makes this place sound like such fun.”

Capital of culture LEEUWARDEN

This post by Travelling with our Kids made Karen want to explore this part of Scotland this summer.  The scenery is absolutely stunning.

Claire enjoyed reading this post by Suzi from Raising Badgers about returning to a place she used to holiday as a kid with her own family. Claire said “I also used to spend a lot of my holidays in the Yorkshire Dales so this brought back a lot of great memories.”

Claire also said “It was so interesting reading about the eerily beautiful village of Imber which was taken over for military training in the 1940s. Keri from Ladies What Travel tells the story of this place well.”

And Claire and Karen’s favourite was Esther from Your Dutch Guide. Please get in touch Esther to let us know what guide you would like.
