One thing that really struck me during my weekend in Costa Barcelona, is how we are now more likely to share a photo/status update on social media than pop a postcard in the post. Although I really miss posting and receiving handwritten notes, I do love the ability to update family and friends at home in real-time.
I have recently started using Instagram and it is quickly becoming my favourite social media channel. (Mainly because I’m nosey, but also because I love being inspired by other people’s travelling experiences, which Instagram is particularly great for!)

Funny thing is that I have a handful of friends who still like to send postcards, so whenever they travel, I’ll get a nice postcard from them. Although I love Instagram, it’s still a nice surprise to get postcards in the mail. Lovely photos- that paella looks scrumptious!

Oh I LOVE receiving postcards Bryna! When my Grandad passed away we found all of the postcards I had sent him during my time travelling the world onboard cruise ships and working in the USA. He had obviously loved receiving them and they were so lovely to read. I must start sending postcards again!

I’ve only been to Barcelona once, pre-kids. Loved it! I agree it’s so much easier and faster to post a picture, but I really like postcards. Still trying to ‘get’ Instagram. Haven’t succeeded so far…. #MondayEscapes

I love instagram so much for travel inspiration. It’s so dangerous though as I usually then just want to go all round the world. I love these pics, I can’t believe I’ve never been to Spain and we live about two hours away! I need to fix that this year if I can!

It really sounds like (and looks like!) a lovely trip – I haven’t been to this part of Spain for years. Would really like to return and take the kids too.
A lovely reminder of a great trip – I do rather miss sending postcards, but love being able to follow people on Instagram (and scroll back through my own feed for a bit of a lift too!)
