Monday Escapes #47

Good morning all and welcome to Monday Escapes #47.  Last week I had the absolute pleasure of catching up with many of you in person, including my lovely co hosts – Claire from Tin Box Traveller, Karen from Mini Travellers and Sarah from Extraordinary Chaos at the World Travel Market in London.

It took me a few days to recover from two days of networking and walking for what felt like miles back and forth across Excel!  If you didn’t attend this year I can thoroughly recommend it.  The WTM is the largest global travel trade show.  I found the exhibitors I met very friendly and many keen to work to travel bloggers, especially those that I met during the bloggers speed networking event.

We have some great news this week…  Monday Escapes has a new sponsor!  We are absolutely delighted to link up with Lonely Planet to offer our number one favourite blog post of the fortnight either a destination guide, or a title from the Lonely Planet Kids range.  (See T&C’s below). Just another great reason to link up with Monday Escapes!

Favourite posts Monday Escapes #46

Karen and Sarah were your hosts for the last Monday Escapes.  They have selected the following four posts as their favourites…

Man V’s Globe – This is something Karen has always wanted to do so she loved reading this post about Becky and Dave’s trip across the Atlas Mountains.

The Helpful Hiker – In contrast to the heat of the Atlas Mountains Karen also really enjoyed this post about a misty wet hike up to Helvellyn.

Parent Shaped – Sarah loved Penny’s article featuring her recent family stay at the Universal Orlando Resort.  As an Orlando lover, the retro styling of this hotel particularly made Sarah want to pack up her suitcase and go and check it out for herself!

Travelsewhere – David’s post made Sarah want to visit Morocco and explore the incredible Blue City of Chefchaouen.

Our first winner of the Lonely Planet book is Becky & Dave from Man V’s Globe!  Well done to both of you we will be in touch to arrange shortly;)

What is Monday Escapes?

Monday Escapes is a place for bloggers to link up their travel memories.  The linky is all about looking back at wonderful, happy travel memories and sharing them with others.

It doesn’t have to be about a trip abroad or even be a written post.  If you want to share your favourite snapshots – whether it’s a famous sight, scene, dramatic view or even a favourite family photo, then please feel free to link those up, too.  Likewise, posts don’t have to be about holidays or weekends away, they can also include day trips, walks, attractions – any travel experience that you want to share.

So how do you join in?

• Link up to one post/photo below – old or new.
• Please make sure to include the new Monday Escapes badge at the bottom of the post, on your site, or a link back to the hosts.
• Posts are anything travel-related, and can include photos, reviews, days out, attractions and walks – at home or abroad.
• Comment on posts by the hosts and at least two others.  Blog hops only work if you share the comment love. That’s why they’re so great!  This week Claire and I are your hosts.  Claire is linking her Lost gardens of Heligan with children and I am linking my 15 family friendly attractions within a short drive of Barcelona.
• If you tweet any of us your links using #MondayEscapes and we will be sure to retweet. @travellovinfam@minitravellers@sarahjchristie, @tinboxtraveller
• Similarly, if you want to show off your photos on Instagram using #MondayEscapes, we will also show those photos some love.

What’s in it for you?

The number one thing is you’ll be sharing your fantastic posts with a like-minded community and grabbing some travel inspiration for yourself!  As a bonus you have the chance to have your blog post and/or hashtagged Instagram posts featured on ALL FOUR of the hosts’ blogs each fortnight, introducing your blog to even more people.

Our number one favourite post of the fortnight will also win a Lonely Planet destination guide, or a title from the Lonely Planet Kids range.  How great is that?!  (*T&C’s – The chosen Lonely Planet book must be in English and can only be sent to bloggers living within Europe).

Monday Escapes will go live every two weeks, alternating between the hosts and will be open Monday 7am to Wednesday midnight.  There is also a Monday Escapes Pinterest Board – so if you’d like to start pinning some of your favourite photos, do get in touch.

I hope you all have a fabulous week!  If you have any questions please shout, all four of us are happy to help.

Happy travelvasery!!! All your tips are amazing. Trying foods have always been a fear. I don’t want to have a growling or bloated stomach in a foreign place. But I will overcome that fear and try mire street foods.
My best travel tip is keeping an open mind. We read so much about places and have an already formed opinion of the place before we even get there. Most of the times, it turns out not to be all true. And even when it’s trues, I’ve learnt to find beauty in the different cultures I encounter. After all, how boring would the world be if we were all similar.
    Thank you for this!

Thanks so much for featuring my La Jolla photo in your favorites; I really appreciate it! I was disappointed to miss out on WTM again while I was in San Diego – it looked amazing and such a great opportunity to network. Congrats on your new sponsor and thanks for hosting; I look forward to reading the posts!
