Sometimes as a parent you have to admit that you are wrong. Richard and I loved our winter sports holidays before we became parents. We’ve been planning to introduce our boys to skiing and snowboarding in a couple of years’ time, thinking that they were just a little too young for the slopes just yet…
At the weekend we headed to the snow-covered hills. Wrapped up in our winter woollies and armed with our sledges and new snow boards we couldn’t wait for a day playing in the snow. I had imagined us taking it in turns to race down the slopes on sledges but my eldest had a different plan… Within minutes he was trying out snowboarding for the first time. Half an hour later he looked like a pro and was putting my snowboarding to shame!
It was at this point I decided we had to enter the Mark Warner Holidays competition. Here is a little video we’ve put together which explains why we would love to be chosen as the Mark Warner Ambassador family. Wish us luck!
As you can tell from our video we had an incredible family holiday at the Mark Warner Lakitira Beach Resort in Greece a couple of years ago. I can hand on heart say it was the most relaxing and fun family holiday we’ve ever had. We ate delicious food, played on the beach and in the pool and tried out new water sports. We’ve had many family holiday photos taken since then but this photo is still my favourite, and the one I use as my profile photo for all of my social media channels –
It was taken on our last morning in Greece. My youngest son is scowling because we’d stopped him playing to have the photo taken but it makes me smile every time I see it because it was the most incredible week, for our family but also as a couple. This holiday was a bit of a turning point for us. We’d enjoyed quality time together making family memories to last a lifetime and Richard and I had enjoyed some quality childfree time whilst our boys were having fun with new friends at their afternoon kids’ club sessions. We had also enjoyed a WEEK of date nights, (more than we normally get in an entire year!) thanks to the evening kids’ clubs/night nursery. You can read our rather gushy review of our family holiday in Greece here – Family holiday at Mark Warner Lakitira Beach Resort, Greece. I also shared – Our tips for a Mark Warner Summer Holiday.
I had always been a little doubtful about holiday kids’ clubs prior to our stay at Lakitira resort. I suppose I thought that family holidays were about spending time with each other 24/7 but that holiday changed my mind completely. Knowing that our boys were going to kids clubs in the afternoons for three hours made us really appreciate them more for the rest of the day. Rather than building sandcastles whilst looking longingly at the child-free couples reading books and drinking cocktails, we both got stuck in building the most elaborate sandcastles you have ever seen… knowing that we had three hours of child free time in the afternoons to relax. If you still need convincing about Mark Warner kids’ clubs check out our guide – Childcare at Mark Warner Lakitira Beach Resort.
This year we would love to take our boys on their first winter sports holiday with Mark Warner to the French Alps. We would love to stay in a cosy chalet hotel, and watch our boys as they learn to snow plough and gain confidence on the slopes at ski school. This time we wouldn’t worry about leaving them at kids club because we would 100% trust the experienced and award-winning child care staff to care for them whilst we enjoy some rare childfree time.
Our boys loved playing in the snow last weekend and we know a winter sports holiday in the French Alps would be a magical experience we would all treasure for a lifetime.
Thanks for reading our Mark Warner Ambassador entry. Wish us luck!
