Good morning and welcome to Monday Escapes! I am feeling fully relaxed today after a child free weekend chilling out at Alexander House Hotel & Utopia Spa in Sussex. It was a very different experience to last weekend at Cornbury Music Festival, where we partied along with Scouting For Girls, Bryan Adams, Kaiser Chiefs and many more fabulous acts. I thought the main acts may have been on too late for my boys but they did really well and managed to stay awake and party Friday and Saturday until gone 11pm!
I'm gutted! I should be watching Jools Holland right now closing @cornburymusicfestival but instead I'm still convincing these two little tinkers to go to sleep at home 🙄😴 we reluctantly left after dinner to get ready for school/work tomorrow. Wish we hadn't bothered! My boys clearly still want to party 😂🎉 #cornbury2017 #festivalsummer
Here on my blog I’ve been busy sharing tips for planning the ultimate family holiday to Orlando. (From living in and nearby Orlando for four years it is still one of my favourite places in the world!) I’ve also shared my top five places to visit in Tenerife and my six fairytale destinations perfect for the family holiday, including one of my favourite city’s, Copenhagen, and the number one place on our travel wish list – Lapland.
It is now less than three months until #BlogCampOnboard taking place onboard MSC Preziosa! If you are registered with one of the Fleamail sites (Trips100, Tots100, HIBS100 and Foodies100) and you fancy joining us onboard you have until the 31st July to apply for a place. More details and a round up of some of the best cruise reviews can be found here – Countdown to #BlogCampOnboard and Cruise Reviews by Experienced Cruisers.
Monday Escapes #64
Without further ado, Sarah is your host for this weeks Monday Escapes. This will be the last Monday Escapes until the 4th September to allow us all to enjoy the summer holidays with our kids! Let’s make it a good one and we look forward to welcoming you all back in September to hear about your summer adventures.
Claire and I were your hosts for Monday Escapes #63. Our four favourite posts were…
Molly’s post about Popeye Village in Malta is packed full of beautiful pictures of her fun visit. Who knew this place existed?! The five-year-old in me is itching to go!
Sima’s wedding anniversary trip to this quirky hotel in Lavenham made me green with envy! The food, spa and slightly wonky accommodation sounds perfect for a couples’ break
I loved this review – Glamping at Canvas and Stars on Hale Farm and challenge anyone who says they don’t ‘do’ camping to read it! I loved the wild flowers, hay bales for seats and all the quirky extras for kids including a dressing up rail!
We all felt completely inspired by Jenn and Jason who are currently living in Bangalore with their 2 and 3 year olds. The family’s recent experience visiting Hampi completely captivated us –Happy in Hampi with Kids. Their kids look like they are having so much fun exploring the temples and stroking the local elephants. What a life changing opportunity for them all! The family are also our winner of this weeks Lonely Planet prize. Please do get in touch to claim it.
What is Monday Escapes?
Monday Escapes is a place for bloggers to link up their travel memories. The linky is all about looking back at wonderful, happy travel memories and sharing them with others.
It doesn’t have to be about a trip abroad or even be a written post. If you want to share your favourite snapshots – whether it’s a famous sight, scene, dramatic view or even a favourite family photo, then please feel free to link those up, too. Likewise, posts don’t have to be about holidays or weekends away, they can also include day trips, walks, attractions – any travel experience that you want to share.
So how do you join in?
• Link up to one post/photo – old or new. **Sarah is your host this week.
• Please make sure to include the NEW Monday Escapes badge at the bottom of the post, on your site, or a link back to the hosts.
• Posts are anything travel-related, and can include photos, reviews, days out, attractions and walks – at home or abroad.
• Comment on posts by the hosts and at least two others. Blog hops only work if you share the comment love. That’s why they’re so great!
• If you tweet any of us your links using #MondayEscapes and we will be sure to retweet. @travellovinfam, @minitravellers, @sarahjchristie, @tinboxtraveller
• Similarly, if you want to show off your photos on Instagram using #MondayEscapes, we will also show those photos some love.
What’s in it for you?
The number one thing is you’ll be sharing your fantastic posts with a like-minded community and grabbing some travel inspiration for yourself! As a bonus you have a chance to have your blog post featured (with follow links) on all four of the hosts’ blogs each fortnight, introducing your blog to even more people.
Our number one favourite post of the fortnight will also win a Lonely Planet destination guide, or a title from the Lonely Planet Kids range. How great is that?! (*T&C’s – The chosen Lonely Planet book must be in English and can only be sent to bloggers living within Europe).
Monday Escapes will go live every two weeks, alternating between your four hosts – Sarah at Extraordinary Chaos, Claire at Tin Box Traveller, Karen at Mini Travellers and I. The linky opens Monday at 7am to Wednesday midnight. There is also a Monday Escapes Pinterest Board – so if you’d like to start pinning some of your favourite photos, do get in touch.
