Monday Escapes #52

Good morning and welcome once again to Monday Escapes.   Many thanks to the 50+ travel bloggers from around the world who linked up last fortnight.

I’m writing this a few hours before the linky goes live, after a fun and busy weekend in the medieval town of Stratford-upon-Avon, Warwickshire.  If you don’t follow us on Instagram here is what we have been up to…

It was a pretty wet in Stratford-upon-Avon today but we still found lots to do. We started the day with a boat ride down the River Avon which our boys absolutely loved! It was their first river cruise, but for Richard and I it was a trip down memory lane (river?!) as we lived onboard our 50ft narrow boat called Maverick for two years prior to getting married. (Slightly off topic but if you are considering living onboard a boat we can thoroughly recommend it!!) Today has made us realise how much we miss boating, and life on the water. We're going to look into taking our boys on a boating holiday very soon! 🚤😆🛥I would love to know if you have taken your young kids on a boating holiday?! #ukexplore #stratforduponavon #widebeam #boatholidays

Claire and I were your hosts for Monday Escapes #51.  Our four favourite posts were…

10 Tried and Tested Tips for Flying with Infants and Toddlers by Flip Flop Globe Trotters – Lisa shares her expert tried and tested tips after 10 months of travel, 25 flights and 32.645 miles with her young son!

How to Find the Best Hotels in Paris by TravelLatte.  Claire and I loved this guide to finding the best hotel in Paris. As someone who always finds it an absolute nightmare to select a hotel, particularly when booking a city break, I think starting a hotel search with an itinerary followed by budget, style and reviews makes complete sense.

Historical travel with kids – Must see sites in Europe by Expitterpattica.  An inspiring post by expat mum, Lucille.  She has continued to see some of Europe’s iconic sights after starting a family and has great tips for instilling wanderlust in children from a young age.

Finding Exotic Destinations in France by Daislikethese.  Daisy’s collection of exotic spots in France are fantastic. They look more like places you’d find in the Caribbean. Claire selected this post as it has made her think differently about a holiday across the Channel.

What is Monday Escapes?

Monday Escapes is a place for bloggers to link up their travel memories.  The linky is all about looking back at wonderful, happy travel memories and sharing them with others.

It doesn’t have to be about a trip abroad or even be a written post.  If you want to share your favourite snapshots – whether it’s a famous sight, scene, dramatic view or even a favourite family holiday photo, then please feel free to link those up, too.  Likewise, posts don’t have to be about holidays or weekends away, they can also include day trips, walks, attractions – any travel experience that you want to share.

So how do you join in?

• Link up to one post/photo – old or new.  This week I am linking up my Postcards of Costa Barcelona. ***This weeks host is Sarah, over at Extraordinary Chaos ***
• Please make sure to include the new Monday Escapes badge at the bottom of the post, on your site, or a link back to the hosts.
• Posts are anything travel-related, and can include photos, reviews, days out, attractions and walks – at home or abroad.
• Comment on posts by the hosts and at least two others.  Blog hops only work if you share the comment love. That’s why they’re so great!
• If you tweet any of us your links using #MondayEscapes and we will be sure to retweet. @travellovinfam@minitravellers@sarahjchristie, @tinboxtraveller
Similarly, if you want to show off your photos on Instagram using #MondayEscapes, we will also show those photos some love. Please note as our Instagram community is very small we’re no longer sharing our favourite posts each fortnight. But please keep using the hashtag as we’d like to continue to support our regular linkers.

What’s in it for you?

The number one thing is you’ll be sharing your fantastic posts with a like-minded community and grabbing some travel inspiration for yourself!  As a bonus you have a chance to have your blog post featured on all four of the hosts’ blogs each fortnight, introducing your blog to even more people.  One lucky person will also win a lovely prize by our sponsors, Lonely Planet.  How great is that?!

Monday Escapes will go live every two weeks, alternating between your four hosts – Sarah at Extraordinary Chaos, Clare at Tin Box Traveller, Karen at Mini Travellers and I.  The linky opens Monday at 7am to Wednesday midnight.  There is also a Monday Escapes Pinterest Board – so if you’d like to start pinning some of your favourite photos, do get in touch.

Stratford-upon-Avon looks like such a quintessential little town. Can’t wait to hear more about it. Thanks for hosting Monday Escapes.

Oh gosh, does that fire just scream out COSY! or what? There’s nothing like a cosy cottage stay especially during winter months.
