2016 Travel Wish List

I did not realise how much we had managed to fit in last year until I wrote our 2015 review.  2016 is looking likely to be another busy year!  I thoroughly look forward to developing Travel Loving Family, meeting some of the travel bloggers who inspired me to set up our family blog and working with more travel companies.

In April I will be attending my first travel blogging conference – Traverse in Cardiff and in June I will network with fellow bloggers and brands in London at Britmums Live.

2016 Travel Wish List

Our 2016 family travel wish list is, as you can imagine, rather substantial! Although we have nothing booked as yet (shock, horror!), our travel plans will begin to take shape over the next few weeks.  As a family we hope to return to Savannah, Georgia, USA.  Savannah is very special to us as we lived there for three years.  We are long overdue a visit to the Deep South to catch up with our friends whom we still miss dearly:(

In 2016 my husband and I plan to incorporate more of the activities we used to enjoy before having children into our family holidays.  We have always loved water and snow sports such as sailing, skiing (me) and snow boarding (Richard).  Now that our boys are a little older we hope to begin to introduce them to some sports… or failing that leaving them at home with grandparents for a few days!

We are hopeful of a child free trip to the French Alps to visit my brother who is working over there as a Chalet Manager. If he can secure us a good deal we have promised to book flights and join him on the ski slopes:) (The pressure is on Gaz!)

Our family summer holiday will hopefully be spent in Europe at an activities resort reacquainting ourselves with water sports.  (We have heard great things about Mark Warner Holidays and would love to know your thoughts if you have stayed at a Mark Warner property).

Closer to home we intend to camp at some scenic spots on the south coast and also explore Wales.  For the last three years we have enjoyed family breaks at Center Parcs which we love because of the range of activities and convenience of everything being in one enclosed area.  This year we plan to try Bluestone National Park Resort in Pembrokeshire which has been recommended to us by many friends who have raved about the scenic location and variety of family activities on offer.

Lastly, our 2016 New Year’s resolution is to attend some family friendly festivals in the summer months.  Richard and I used to love attending V Festival back in the days before kids.  We are looking forward to attending Geronimo Festival which is the largest children’s festival in the North West and for a complete contrast, a much smaller festival which focuses on the past and offers traditional children entertainment Vintage Nostalgia.

We hope that 2016 will bring you lots of memorable travelling adventures with your family too.  Fellow bloggers, I would love to read your 2015 reviews and 2016 travel wish lists, please do pop a link below:)  I would also love to know if you are planning on attending Traverse 16 and Britmums Live.

May I take this opportunity to wish you and your family safe travels and a happy New Year!

Great list! The trip to America sounds wonderful. We love Pembrokeshire… I haven’t stayed at Bluestone, but would highly recommend renting a cottage by the coast and walking the coastal path – it’s stunning. Skiing also sounds wonderful, I’d love to try it! 🙂

New Orleans is on my list Clare! I am disappointed I never visited whilst living in Savannah. I will check out your 2015 review:) Thanks for stopping by

Mark Warner are excellent and Neilson will probably offer what you are after. Likewise, we have made a list of what to do travel travelwise in 2016, but three children added to the mix complicates slightly. We spent four years as resort/chalet reps, where is your brother?

I forgot about Neilsons Graham! Thanks for the tip. We went on a ski trip with them years ago. My brother is in Megeve, this is his fourth winter season in the Alps, he was in Whistler, Canada for a year last year:) I wish I had done a ski season before kids too, there are just too many exciting options for working abroad to choose from!

Savannah sounds fantastic, I’ve not visited that part of the US but I’d really like to. Like you, I think 2016 is the year we go back to having the sorts of holidays we had pre kids, well, almost! Not sure hey’re quite up to going trekking yet…

You sound as if you have some lovely trips planned. I have always wanted to visit Savannah, so that’s of particular interest to me. One day I will do it, but I hope you manage it this year! We are planning a trip to Germany and maybe the Canaries at the end of the year….#citytripping

Savannah is fabulous Sarah, hot and humid in the summer so I would suggest visiting in the spring or early autumn but it is a fascinating city. Enjoy your trips to Germany and the Canaries:)

What a great list! I grew up in Georgia and Savannah is one of my all time favorite places. I brought my oldest there when he was little and will hopefully take them again when we return to the States. I’m also in the middle of planning out our 2016 travel and am completely overwhelmed by all the options! #CityTripping

Whereabouts in Georgia did you grow up Elizabeth? We travelled alot during our three years over there, it is a fabulous state and Savannah is perfectly located for exploring Florida, North and South Carolina. I also get overwhelmed by the choice available for our family holidays:)

Phew, what a great and exciting plan for 2016! Savannah sounds wonderful, I can imagine it being a really interesting place to visit. We are also thinking more around France this year… but as you know I am keeping plans to a minimum and going with the flow! Hope you get to tick off all your list and look forward to reading about them!

Savannah is a fabulous place Ting. I always joke that my husband had to drag me back through the airport kicking and screaming as I did not want to leave our life in Georgia. It is perfectly located near Atlanta, Hilton Head Island, Charleston, Jacksonville and St Augustine too so we enjoyed lots of travelling whilst we were over there. Even Orlando was only a 4 hour drive away:) I look forward to reading about your 2016 travels too!

This sounds an exciting plan for 2016 – I visited Bluestone a few years ago and loved it there, definitely one I’d be happy to return to now my daughter is older. And I’ll hopefully meet you at Britmums (if not Traverse!). Happy 2016 and thanks for linking to #citytripping

Sounds like you have some fantastic ideas! It’s so exciting looking at the year ahead and making travel plans. We will be getting our daughter on skis this year too. It’s great when they get to an age when they can start to take part in activities you enjoy too. Enjoy your child-free ski break! I need to look into attending Traverse! Thanks for linking to #citytripping x
